Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina outfielder DeAngelo Mackhas agreed to terms and will sign a contract with the New York Yankees.A 13th round selection in last week's MLB Draft, Mack earnedsecond-team All-SEC honors this year at Carolina and led the Gamecocksin hitting with a .361 batting average (92-for-255) with 14 HR and 60RBI as well. Mack will start his career with the Staten Island Yankeesin the short-season New York-Penn League.
"It's been a great ride at South Carolina," said Mack. "Playingfor Carolina was a dream come true and I enjoyed my four years with theprogram. It's hard to leave. The fans have been great; I've played witha great group of teammates. Coach Tanner and the coaching staff havebeen excellent and I enjoyed my time. I'm proud to be a Gamecock."
